On Wednesday, October 11, the world was cloaked in sorrow as it bid farewell to the gifted Hispanic model and entrepreneur, Sherika de Armas.

The young woman, at just 26 years old, succumbed to her valiant fight against cervical cancer. She is fondly remembered for being crowned Miss Uruguay in 2016.

Despite courageously undergoing multiple treatments, the illness ultimately took its toll, creating an irreplaceable loss in the fashion world.

Sherika de Armas, former Miss Uruguay and Miss World Uruguay 2015, left an indelible mark in the realms of beauty and modeling.

It was in that year that she was crowned for her grace and elegance at the Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco, cementing her position in the world of beauty pageants.

Yet, one of the most significant milestones of her career was representing Uruguay at the renowned Miss World beauty pageant in 2016.

Following her participation, she became synonymous with elegance and poise, establishing herself as an influential figure on social media.

The news of her premature departure has left the entire fashion and modeling community in Uruguay stunned and saddened, as they mourn her early farewell.

After the death of the Hispanic model was announced, her brother, Mayk de Armas, published a moving message on his social networks.

“Fly high, little sister. Always and forever,” can be read in the post from the brother of the deceased model.

Additionally, in one of his Instagram stories, he posted a video of Sherika skating in a park with the caption: “There is no more pain. Have a good trip, I love you forever.”

Carla Romero, the current Miss Uruguay, expressed her pain and admiration for Sherika de Armas, describing her as a person «too evolved for this world.»

She also mentioned that the Hispanic model was one of the most beautiful women she had ever met in her entire life, as she shared on her social media.

Her words reflect the impact that Sherika’s departure has had on those who accompanied her on her journey and witnessed her grace and talent on the catwalks.

It’s worth noting that cervical cancer is a devastating disease that claims the lives of promising young individuals like the late celebrity.

“I will always remember you, not only for all the support you gave me and for how much you wanted to see me grow,” wrote model Lola de los Santos, Miss Uruguay 2021.

«But for your love, your joy, and the friends we share who remain with me today,» she added in a post where she remembers the Hispanic model.

After her tenure in beauty pageants, de Armas founded her own company, dedicated to the sale of personal care products, makeup, and hairstyling.

Simultaneously, she shared makeup tutorials and beauty tips from her “Shey de Armas” account, according to the portal, El Heraldo.

She was a volunteer for several social projects, such as the Pérez Scremini Foundation, which works towards curing childhood cancer in Uruguay, and the Pereira Rossel Hospital.

“I think that social works enrich human beings and to the extent that one helps others, one helps oneself,” she said in an interview for Caras Magazine.

“It’s a dream come true. It is precisely what I aspired to achieve. It is inexplicable to describe what I felt when they called me to be crowned,” she said after winning her contest.
